If we didn’t learn anything during our educational journey, we learned to ask for permission and wait for approval. We asked for permission to go to the restroom and later asked the professor if we could submit our work late. We ask for permission to take some time off from work to tend to a sick child and wait to learn if we received the promotion we’ve been, well, waiting on. We have become accustomed to asking and waiting.
